2026-07-27 — Managed Databases (Preview)​

Managed MariaDB​

  • The Distributed deployment model is renamed MultiAZ
  • Instance templates now go up to 6X-Large (32 vCPU and 128 GiB of memory) and storage is hot-expandable up to 512 GiB
  • Publication of sizing recommendations explaining the calibration of engine parameters, with a warning about enabling performance_schema below the X-Large template
  • Point-in-time restoration is no longer offered: backups now rely on daily physical backups and logical exports, without continuous transaction log archiving

Managed PostgreSQL​

  • New architecture based on the CloudNative-PG Kubernetes operator and the Barman Cloud backup plugin
  • Three deployment models: StandAlone as a single instance, Replica with three asynchronously replicated instances and automatic failover, and Enterprise with three synchronously replicated instances on at least two nodes, ensuring durability without blocking in case of node unavailability
  • Declarative deployment via Kubernetes custom resources, usable via Terraform or Helm, and native export of metrics to Prometheus
